After a career working for others, Dr. Gerds envisioned a practice where the focus would be on the well being of pets without forgetting about the well being of the pet's parents.
She planned on offering friendly, caring, personal service backed by the latest diagnostic technology the veterinary industry has to offer. The vision for Advanced Care Pet Hospital was born.
Today Dr. Gerds enjoys having her own practice where she can practice her own high standards
of veterinary care and service.

Currently Dr. Gerds is our only doctor so you know your pet will be attended by the same doctor the next time you visit.
Dr. Gerds makes recommendations based on her experience and the best interest of your pets health. She allows you the opportunity to pursue the course of action you feel is right for you and your pet, without guilt or negative implications.
Dr. Gerds has practiced small animal veterinary medicine her whole career in Minnesota. She received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the University of Minnesota.
Her career began in Fergus Falls, Minnesota just up Interstate 94 from here. She was regularly on-call and frequently had to respond to emergencies all hours of the night. She did this for 10 years.
In 2003 Dr. Gerds took charge of managing a multi doctor practice in Plymouth Minnesota. Here she gained extensive education on the latest veterinary technologies including diagnostics, ultrasound and electronic practice management.
Dr. Gerds is a career long member of both the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
2009 was a big year for Dr. Gerds and her husband Tom. That April the couple teamed up to open a new veterinary practice in St. Cloud Minnesota.
Dr. Gerds focused on defining medical protocols, diagnostic requirements and equipment selection. Tom focused on the business and financial planning. The couple worked very closely with the St. Cloud area Small Business Development Center to prepare the plan and secure financing.
Site selection took the better part of the summer. A location was identified and purchased near Pine Cone Market Place. Ground breaking occurred September 11th and the first day of business was December 17th 2009.
Simply put: Our Mission is to become the Pet Hospital you would openly recommend to your friends with pets. We do this by treating you like we like to be treated, providing our services in a manner you find convenient and offering the expertise and experience you expect from a leading pet health care provider. We won't treat your pets like animals.
I hand picked this team and many of us go back a long time. Up at the front desk I have my husband Tom manning the phone and keeping the lobby clean. You can learn more about them by clicking on the heading above.
Our building may be new but we provide a wealth of experience. Advanced Care Pet Hospital offers all the services found at both a Veterinary Clinic and a Pet Hospital.
Like you, everyone at Advanced Care Pet Hospital cares deeply about our pets. Our health care recommendations for your pets are made from the heart, not our pocketbook. We would not recommend any more than what we would do for our own pets. Here the doctor and the staff is not on some kind of productivity compensation scheme.

After a career working for others, Dr. Pamela Gerds opened Advanced Care Pet Hospital with the vision of practicing pet medicine right.
Simply put, this means keeping the best interests of both the pet and the pet's parents in mind.
We are growing based on a very simple philosophy, "Treat people and their pets the way we want to be treated ourselves."
Your pets receive the same recommendations and level of care she provides her own pets.
People frequently complement her caring manner toward the pets.
Dr. Gerds has earned devoted clients everywhere she has worked. Several of her staff have even followed her here.
