We've put together a team of fun, smart people to help you and Dr. Gerds give you and your pet the best available care. Most of these people have worked with Dr. Gerds over five years. Proven experience with personalized care.

Nichole

Nicole with Jason

Nichole received her AA degree at St. Cloud State University. She went for biology and had always wanted to work with animals. She took a year long break to work with horses.

Nichole returned to school and attended Argosy University where she received an Associate of Applied Science Degree in veterinary technology.

Nichole has been working in the veterinary field for 13 years and is still loving it. She has worked with Dr. Gerds for over five years.

Her 13 year old cat is named Earnhardt after the late Dale Earnhardt senior.

She cares for numerous barn cats on her boyfriend Jason’s dairy farm in Clearwater. Her interests include travel and trucking to Texas with Jason.

Chelsea attended Monticello High School and went on to Minnesota School of Business in Plymouth for her Vet Tech Degree.

"What do I like about working with pets? I enjoy making a difference in the lives of every animal I meet and also enjoy the impact each one of them makes on my life in return. I also love that no mater what they came into the clinic for, the majority of them are still as happy as can be and eager to meet us.

Accomplishment(s) In high school I had an art piece I made accepted into the U of M's permanent art display. I am also very good at finding homes for animals in need, to date I have helped find homes for about 8 animals in need. I hope to one day open an animal sanctuary or shelter to help as many as I can."

Rachel

Rachel received a BA in Biology from Hamline University in 2006. She has worked as a veterinary Technician since 2000.

She is married to Kevin, together they owns and operate Canine Cabin. a Dog Boarding, Grooming, Training, Dog Showing facility.

Rachel actively competes in AKC conformation, agility, and obedience events with her Shelties and Alaskan Malamutes. Rachel also breeds Shelties and Alaskan Malamutes.

Rachel has worked with Dr. Gerds for 9 years, she began with Advanced Care Pet Hospital in 2010.

Amanda
Amanda

Amanda is from Clear Lake and joined Advanced Care Pet Hospital when we opened in December of 2009.

She achieved a CNA certification and has worked in direct patient care. As a child, Amanda grew up with dogs, rabbits, fish and hamsters. She especially has a strong passion for dogs. Amanda believes that pets play an important role as members of families.

She appreciates the many positive benefits associated with animal interactions. Amanda’s pet family includes two Black Labs, Maggie Sue and Dakota Lou and her new puppy, Lexie Mae. In her free time, Amanda enjoys time with family and friends, outdoor activities such as camping, fishing and long walks, traveling, scrap booking, watching movies and reading.

Crystal

The newbie on the block here with us at Advanced Care is Veterinary Technician Crystal.

Crystal graduated from Pierz healy high school in 2009 where right after she attended the Minnesota School of Business. She recently graduated December of 2011 with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in veterinary technology and started working with us the following February.

Crystal and her daughter Caiden like most in the veterinary field have a couple of their own pets. To start off there is Savage her Lab/St. Bernard, Geppetto a dwarf rabbit, 4 quarter horses and 4 barn cats.

“I am new with Advanced Care but have been in the field my whole college career. I worked at the Minnesota Veterinary Associates of Little Falls where I started as a kennel assistant worked my way up to a technician.”

“So far I love the medical field and plan on sticking with it for awhile. I am hoping within the next year to go back to school and become a large animal veterinarian. My daughter and my animals are my life, I wouldn't go a day without either one of them.”

Becca

My husband Mike and I live at our home in Becker with our two Cattle dog mixes "Rowdy" and "Sprite" and our cat named "Jersey Tony" that I rescued from New Jersey when I lived there.

We have a 2 year old daughter, and one way. Aside from the family life, and work here at the clinic my passion is showing and training Quarter and Paint horses. I have recently started my own training, breeding and lesson program and am full time barn manager and instructor at our barn in Monticello where we have our own lesson horses, and pleasure Quarter Horse stallion.

I have worked with animals my entire life, I grew up showing dogs, rabbits and horses in our local 4H and that led me to show Nationally in the ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) as well as in the APHA (American Paint Horse Association) after school I moved out to New Jersey to work with Thoroughbreds at Monmouth Racetrack, I then took a position as Assistant trainer at a large Quarter Horse breeding and show barn in Louisa, Virginia.

All pets hold a huge part in my life, Ive never known life without a dog or cat by my side and believe in taking the BEST of care for the members of our family.

Tom Gerds

Together we work to ensure scheduling harmony, a clean lobby and, we fight the evil forces of smelly poo to make your visit as pleasant as possible.

Born in Anchorage Alaska, I grew up in Wisconsin, graduated UW Madison with a degree in Journalism and have lived in Minnesota since the Twins won the series in '87.

I'm a Fortune 500 refugee having been displaced from a career in the software industry after the events of 9/11/2001. My prior career involved CRM and database driven marketing communications with experience in graphic design, copywriting and national franchise marketing.

As the resident marketing and webmaster guy I also answer customer inquires, keep the front office organized and the windows clean.

My outside interests include the design and construction of wood watercraft, particularly wood canoes and sea kayaks. This work is featured at

I also happen to be a vintage VW enthusiast and "old car guy." We have several vintage vehicles including a 1966 vw bus and several vintage trucks including a 1946 Willis CJ2A.
